Anxiety Tour #3: Self-care, Nutrition and Our Anxious Spirit with Taryn L Kennedy
Certified nutritionist Taryn L Kennedy talks with Susan about how nutrition affects our nervous system, particularly in times of stress, and how our diet contributes to our anxiety.
Susan and Taryn’s Anxiety Tips for Challenging Times
Pay mindful attention to how we begin and end the day. Either quiet with music, with reading, looking out the window, going outside, winding down without electronic devices, and waiting a while before we approach our email.
Do things throughout the day that give us rest when our feelings are particularly strong. Or actually give us rest when we feel weary. Be gentle with yourself and others.
Pay attention to what you are eating. Getting proper nutrition is even more important in stressful times as stress depletes our nutrients and weakens our immune system. Eat for nourishment, not for comfort.
Contact friends and family to strengthen relationships and alleviate feelings of isolation or loneliness.
Get moving in any way that you can. Any kind of exercise helps reduce stress and anxiety.
